Neapolitan Oreo

Product circa: 2022

Really glad they decided to put all 3 flavors into each cookie sandwich.  That’s definitely in the spirit of the “big reaches” that Oreo usually pulls off.

This is delicious.  There’s something about all 3 cremes together that really result in something complex.  Add to that the slightly-cinnamon and tons-of-vanilla cookies, and in the end, this is a really special product.  This is one that they should make permanent.  And surprisingly, I'm not too bothered by the overload of creme, here.

Sprite Tropical Mix

Product circa: Intermittent

Some folks may not realize this, but this is basically a reincarnation of Sprite’s Tropical Remix from the early 2000s.  There were 2 Tropical Remixes and, frankly, this Tropical Mix might be a mixture of the 2.

The copy says pineapple and strawberry are the main flavors, here.  I would say... pineapple, definitely; mango, probably; orange, probably.  The strawberry brings up the rear and is subtle.

This stuff is great.  It's a satisfying spiritual successor to the Tropical Remixes.  It's fantastic that Coke has made this available, and seemingly it is now a semi-permanent product.  Color this reviewer happy.

Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry and Drizzled Cheesecake

Product circa: 2018

A whimsical pairing, but nothing much to speak of, here.  Half of the pastry is like a traditional Pop-Tarts variety with which we’re all familiar, and the other is a cheese-infused dairy “creme” filling.  They go well together, but otherwise this is nothing stellar.

Chocolate Strawberry Oreo

Product circa: 2017

Chocolate cookie, chocolate cream, blob of strawberry creme in the middle.  Not bad, but the chocolate overpowers the strawberry.  With that said, the chocolate part tastes no worse than it always does.

Strawberry Nut M&M's

Product circa: 2017

A small amount of potent strawberry flavoring between the peanut and the chocolate.  It’s way better than I expected.  Very flavorful and very different tasting from the original.  But I can’t help but think that strawberries and peanuts just don’t go together.

The Artist Marshmello's Limited Edition Coca-Cola

Product circa: 2022

Jesus, that’s a mouthful.  This was part of Coke's Creations line of artsy interpretations.

Billed as a strawberry and watermelon Coke, I can detect no watermelon.  So I guess it's a strawberry Coke.  It's fine, nothing impressive.

As for the zero sugar version, the overall flavor and experience suffers greatly... but oddly, I can detect the watermelon in the diet version.  Go figure.

Kit Kat Duos - Strawberry + Dark Chocolate

Product circa: 2022

I suppose that strawberry and chocolate aren't a strange combination, but they are when the strawberry is the same artificial flavoring used for hard candy and soft drinks.  They tried to dial back on too much strawberry, but it ends up being unremarkable.

Dr. Pepper Strawberries & Cream

Product circa:  2023 and after

Note: This is a presumptive Ephemeral Nom

Not the first Dr. Pepper to have berries or cream added.

Not much to see here.  While vanilla is assuredly in Dr. Pepper’s original mix of flavors, if they added more here, it doesn’t come through with the artificial strawberry.  The strawberry here doesn’t play well with the regular formula.  As always, I applaud the attempt, as well as the numerous recent attempts at other Dr. Pepper variations, but this one misses the mark.

Strawberry Frosted Donut Oreo

Product circa: 2021

Vanilla cookie with 2 types of creme: strawberry (with sprinkles) and… I can’t figure out what the 2nd one is.  I’ve deconstructed the cookies and tasted the odd, beige creme on its own.  It might be different from the original Oreo creme, but only barely.  Moreover, I can’t figure out what it’s supposed to be or represent.

Despite how ridiculous Oreo varieties can get, they almost always are in balance; this variety is not.  This is the most punishingly sweet Oreo I’ve ever tasted… it’s either worse than the Double Stuf or Triple Stuff ones.

Mountain Dew VooDOO 2024

Product circa: autumn 2024

The yearly tradition returns.  Evidently this is known as "VooDEW 6.0".

Anyway, the flavor of this stuff hasn't been announced yet, but people online have been saying it continues the "Halloween candy" tradition by being flavored like a strawberry candy of some sort - some are staying strawberry Nerds, strawberry Starbursts, and even others.

I'm pretty underwhelmed with this one.  It definitely has a candy-like flavor that approaches cotton candy/candy floss.  When I push myself, I can understand the strawberry Nerds comparison.  I'll update this post when I learn of the reveal.

Sprite Remix Aruba Jam (Wendy's 2024)

Product circa: Summer 2024

In an unbelievable move, Sprite has revived their 20 year old product, and one of my favorites of all time.  Returning as a Coke Freestyle machine offering, I'm not one to complain.  It's hard to say if this stuff tastes like the original, but it's damn close, and it's damn good.  Sprite with a vivid lime and complementary strawberry.  The original was clear, but the color of this modern version has no bearing on anything.

The freestyle machines really offer Coke an amazing opportunity - to bring back discontinued flavors in a way much more cheaply than bottles or cans, which require them to (re)create marketing and packaging.

What a special experience to relive this product.  Thanks Coke, keep it up!

Lay's IHOP Rooty Tooty Fresh N' Fruity

Product circa: 2024

The taste of strawberry candy first, and it's a little tangy.  Remarkably close to something like a pie filling.  Buttery maple comes in next, like a cheap pancake syrup.  Bacon fat is an ingredient here, which is commendable, but it's hard to detect; it takes a few bites before your tongue gets used to the buttery fruit in order to notice a light smokiness.

The first few chips are very off-putting, but I'm embarrassed to say that after you eat a few, these become pretty tolerable.  Definitely up there as one of the most bizarre chips I've ever eaten, up there with Lay's Cappuccino and Lay's Chicken and Waffle.

Sprite Lymonade Legacy

Product circa: 2023

Sprite Lymonade is a nice foray, but I always thought it was missing a little something, and so I never bought it much.  Evidently what it was missing was strawberry.  The Lymonade Legacy is fantastic, and it's a shame this didn't end up being the permanent Lymonade product.

Gatorade Strawberry Lemonade

Gatorade has issued this flavor recently and has been advertising the hell out of it at 7-Eleven locations.

There's really not much to this.  They've taken two flavorings that they use for some of their normal drink varieties and have combined them for a limited edition one.

Admittedly, strawberry and lemonade are a good combination in general, and they're a good combination here.  The sweetness/tartness balance is good, just like in any Gatorade product, and the strawberry does not come across as candy-like and artificial, which is tough to do, in my opinion.

Gatorade Strawberry Lemonade:- Good
Original Gatorade(Orange, for comparison):- Good

acquired: 7-Eleven
