Dr. Pepper Creamy Coconut

 

Product circa: 2024 and 2026

On paper, this feels like an all-time varietal, but in practice, the coconut flavor is quite faint, and I would have preferred it stronger, almost like what you'd from Sonic Drive-In if you ordered a Dr. Pepper with a coconut add-in.  With that said, this stuff is still damn good, and I easily drank a whole 12 pack with time to spare.  And evidently, it was popular enough that it has returned in 2026.

Snickers Adventure Bar

Indeed, I still have this bag of snacks!  Unfortunately, the chocolate has gone rancid, and they are inedible.

This was a promotional product released for the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  It was a regular Snickers bar base with the added flavors of coconut and chai-like spices... why they chose those flavors to promote this movie, I do not know.

I recall the candy having a subtle coconut flavor that accented the original very well.  I personally do not recall any flavor of spices at all, though some concurrent sources did.

Red Bull Coconut Edition/Summer Edition 2018

 

Product circa: 2018 and intermittent since

This has had permutations throughout the years.  It was called Summer Edition in 2018, and since has been called Coconut Edition.

Ostensibly a coconut berry flavor, what I get is the expected Red Bull taste with a sour berry added in, and a hint of coconut.  I wish it had more coconut.

Mountain Dew Baja Punch & Baja Flash

As part of the 100 Days of Baja promotion, these 2 products were released alongside Baja Blast's 2021 summer release.

Baja Punch: Very light, and not syrupy.  Interestingly, I don't get the Dew base at all.  There's a tropical melon here, almost like a watermelon agua fresca.  A bit of Sweetart to prevent it from tasting too natural.  There's cherries on the label, but I don't get that at all.

Baja Flash: One of the greatest Dews I've ever tasted - in the Top 3.  A perfect pineapple coconut flavor that I'm not sure I could clock as a Dew.  As of this 2025 writing, I still have a few cans left, which I will cherish.

Doritos Flamin' Hot Mystery Flavor 2024

With mystery flavors like these, I usually give it an honest effort to discern the flavor before looking up internet opinions.  In this case, my guess seems to be correct.  These are flavored like a thai coconut curry or tom kha soup.  Hot chile leads the flavors, with creamy coconut milk specifically (not coconut), and even lemongrass in the mix.  After some internet searches, it seems others have come to the same conclusion.  I don't love these, but this is a very impressive execution.  Bravo, Doritos!

Toasted Coconut Oreo

True to form, these taste exactly like the cake pictured, with the toasted coconut apparent.  There's both white and toasted coconut here, as promised.  A photorealistic experience... what a delight!

Ben & Jerry's Piña Colada

Ben & Jerry's is one of those brands that I really have to commend for keeping things fresh with their product's varieties.  Their stable of flavors is one of the biggest in the ice cream industry, those permanent flavors are always changing every few years, and they often send out "Limited Batches" of flavors to test on America's tongues.

This summery offering caught me off guard.  When I think of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, I think of them as rich and decadent.  Perhaps not as high in fat as something like Häagen-Dazs, but Ben & Jerry's original ice cream has always signified high quality ingredients and flavors that are full and assertive.

The first bite makes it clear that this stuff is not meant to be the rich and hedonistic mix that can soothe sorrows after a tough day or a bad breakup.  No, B&J have gone out of their way to make this Limited Batch light and refreshing.  The first ingredient in the product's Nutrition Facts is indeed cream, but the second is skim milk.  The result is that the mouth feel of this product is more like sherbet than ice cream.  In fact, it's not unlike the fabulous So Delicious coconut milk ice creams, though this product does not use coconut milk.

The "cream" is flavored with both coconut and pineapple that is very well balanced and instantly invokes the Piña Colada.  In addition, folded into the ice cream are small bits of dried coconut and dried pineapple.  Because these bits have sat in a tub of cream since its production in the factory, they end up being slightly rehydrated, and the resulting texture is nicely chewy.

A bowl of this stuff would hit the spot after mowing the lawn, for example.  But in the end, it doesn't quite reach the euphoric experience that defines ice cream as an indulgence.

3 Musketeers Coconut

As a coconut fanatic, I was quite excited when I found this bad boy.

Unfortunately, this product seems like an afterthought from Mars.  It feels like they put in a few drops of coconut extract while folding the nougat in the factory, and the result tastes more like cheap coconut rum instead of, say, a Mounds bar.  The flavor is less vibrant and inviting than if they had perhaps used real bits of coconut, and somehow it doesn't pair beautifully with the 3 Musketeers signature nougat.

I daresay that this combination almost makes it drop down a NOM rating from the original, but not quite.
