Doritos Collisions Stranger Pizza & Cool Ranch

A promotional item commemorating the upcoming final season of Stranger Things (get excited!!!).

I like that these exist, but I hate that this flavor combination exists because of losers who dip their pizza in ranch dressing.

Anyway, the Cool Ranch chips are what you'd expect.  The pizza chips are pretty interesting.  There is a ton of tomato powder on these, with what is likely additional sweetness... these things are very sweet.  There is also the deep oregano flavor which is usually what makes "pizza" snacks taste like pizza.  That's about all I get from these.  Pretty tasty, but not stellar.

No pizza chip will ever rival Pizzarias from the 1990s... IYKYK. 

Herr's Special Hot Stromboli

This flavor was the winner of a potato chip flavor contest.  As a big fan of Herr's and complex chip flavors, I went into this with high hopes.  While there are a ton of flavors going on, this largely tastes, to me, like pepperoncini and cheese.  That's it.

Cheetos Puffs Cheese Pizza

I love a good pizza-flavored snack, which is always signaled with powders of cheese, tomato, and oregano.

It seems like they really half-assed this one.  The added tomato powder somehow dampens the cheese seasoning, and it all feels under-seasoned... like it needs more salt (which I'm sure it doesn't and is already high in sodium).

Lay's Kettle Cooked New York Style Pizza

 

I always like pizza-flavored things.  I was really curious if these were going to offer anything special.

In the end, they really don't.  This product is well crafted, though, as is expected.  You have cheese powder, tomato powder, basil and oregano.  It's quite tasty, reminiscent of more staid products like Pizza Pringles.

The only difference here is the kettle chip... perhaps they were trying to simulate the crispy crust of New York pizza?  Either way, the crunch takes away from the experience, as is usually my opinion.  They're good, but not special in any way.
